Chairman's Welcome - July 1st, 2011
I find it hard to believe that it is already July. Another Youth Convention is over and another year of Bible Quizzing is just around the corner. This week the weather has been nice and so I am able to walk to work and study my quiz material while I walk. I encourage all coaches and adults to memorize along with our quizzers. Don't let anyone tell you that you are too old or too busy!
This is a good opportunity to congratulate all of the teams that were represented at the National convention at George Fox University. In particular, I would like to congratulate Jenison Bible Church (MI) and Alderwood Community Church (WA). These two teams put on the most amazing display of quizzing that I have ever seen in a Senior National Championship. The score was tied 200 to 200 after 20 questions and Jenison won by 10 points in the first overtime. Three different quizzers "quizzed out"; two of them with bonus.
We also had several new teams quizzing in the novice division. Little Salmon River Bible Church and Indian Hill Chapel were back again this year and Galt Bible Church and South County Bible Church were here for the first time in many years.
The novice division was won by Snohomish Community Church, with Alderwood finishing second and third. South County (new church) was fourth.
As always, I would like to thank those people whose hard work makes IFCA Bible quizzing possible. Both Sid Miller and Terry Freeburg spend countless hours writing and screening questions. This past year was Terry's last as Question Pool Co-ordinator. He is stepping down after 28 years of service (16 managing the pool of questions.) Thank you Terry!
