IFCA Bible Quizzing Embracing God's Word

FRED EMERY - QUOTING CHALLENGE

In June 2010, the IFCA Quoting Challenge was renamed the "Fred Emery Quoting Challenge" in honor of Fred Emery, Pastor of Faith Bible Church, who went home to be with the Lord on May 17, 2010.
Fred was a man who built his life on Jesus Christ. His life verse was Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.” Fred’s whole life was centered on Jesus Christ. He was not ashamed of the gospel of Christ and you could not meet Fred for more than a few minutes before you knew that!
Fred knew the power of God’s Word and he loved Bible Quizzing. Fred was a competitive man and he loved to win. If you were quizzing against Fred you knew it would be a good quiz! But Fred didn’t quiz because he liked to win, he quizzed because he knew that God’s Word was powerful and that it changed lives. Fred quizzed because he wanted students to know Jesus, know God’s Word – really know it - and to live it – really live it.
Fred knew that God’s Word changes lives and that was his passion. To honor Fred, and his dedication to memorizing God’s Word, we have named the quoting challenge in his memory.
